Stairs to Heaven

Today we wanted to remember Emily on this 2nd anniversary of her home-going to heaven. She’s dearly loved and greatly missed by all her family and loved ones.

There’s a chapter from Emily’s book, Living Memento Mori, that she wrote in about a friend who carried her to the top of the Empire State Building on New Years Eve 2003 (before she had received her double lung transplant for her cystic fibrosis).

Such a beautiful story when considering what it meant to her at that time and in considering the biblical application of Jesus being the one who carried her (as He does all of us) in our moments of weakness. Exactly 20 years later, she was carried again, but this time, to heaven where she is now free of all that held her back physically in this world.

Memories from Friends

Earlier this month, we posted a short blog asking for memories of Emily. Here are 6 moments sent in as tributes to the beautiful soul that Emily embodied during here time here. We hope you read and are blessed by these stories as you enter into the New Year.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”- John 11:25-26

Also, as Emily’s 2-year anniversary in Heaven draws near, we want to ask anyone who is willing and able to post any memories in the comment section so we can put together a very special post at the end of the month! We know she is missed and loved so very much.

Emily's Travel Recommendations 🚙✈️🚆

If I May Recommend…

Looking through Emily’s many years of blogging, she covered such a wide range of topics! Yes, she loved discussing her faith and belief in God, talking about her family, and sharing encouraging words about those going through physical trials such as she endured, but she also loved creating recommendation lists for others that she compiled from her travels.

From Nashville to Hollywood, Duck (NC) to even Scotland, Emily always wanted to share insightful tips with others. Whether at restaurants, tourist attractions worth visiting or even holes in the wall she stumbled upon herself, every city she visited had something worth experiencing. And of course we know she had a special love for bookstores!

Emily believed in living every day to the fullest and traveling (and planning trips) was a big part of her life post-transplant. We decided to compile a list of some of her best city recommendations below, and we hope you’ll leave a comment on her blog of your favorite recommendations to share as well in her honor!
